Objective

This year, we are excited to extend our sessions by an additional 30 minutes, creating more opportunities for students to develop confidence, fluency, and a deeper connection to the Arabic language and culture.

Why the extra time? Simply put, learning a language requires meaningful exposure, practice, and interaction. We want to give our students more opportunities to hear, speak, and experience Arabic in engaging and memorable ways.

Part 1: Arabic Immersion (9:30 AM – 10:00 AM)

The first 30 minutes of each class will focus on interactive language experiences such as:

  • Arabic Improv
  • Storytelling
  • Role-Playing and Conversation Games

Throughout the year, this time may also be used for cultural enrichment activities, including:

  • Dabke
  • Tatreez
  • Arabic arts and crafts
  • Cultural celebrations and traditions

Why Arabic Improv?

One of the best ways to learn a language is to use it naturally. Through improv, students learn to think, respond, and communicate in Arabic without worrying about perfection. Improv encourages creativity, builds confidence, strengthens listening skills, and helps students become comfortable speaking in front of others. Most importantly, it transforms language learning into an enjoyable and meaningful experience.

Part 2: Structured Learning (10:00 AM- 11:20 AM)

After our immersion session, students will move into classrooms based on their age and speaking level. In these smaller groups, they will continue with our carefully designed curriculum using textbooks and structured lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.

While this portion of the class is more structured, our approach remains interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate. We believe students learn best when they are actively participating, collaborating, and having fun.

Will the Longer Session Be Too Much?

Not at all! We are confident that our curriculum, teaching methods, and experienced instructors keep students engaged throughout the morning. The additional time allows us to create a balanced experience that combines conversation, culture, movement, creativity, and academic learning—giving students a richer and more effective Arabic language education.

At Nasma of NY, our goal is not simply to teach Arabic, but to help students live the language, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the Arab world.

Please arrive by 9:20am as teachers plan to start heading to their classrooms by 9:25am.
